Short description: This project is phase 1 of a three phase project. The aim of the three phase project is to produce a tool that will enable the environment agencies in the UK to classify canals in accordance with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and which will support operational and surveillance monitoring. This phase has produced an initial tool which will be tested and refined following the collection and collation of additional data. The final tool and report will be reported under project code WFD61c.
