Research Management Workshop – IWRM-Net 8-9 December
Date: 08 December 2008 09:00
Description: SNIFFER on behalf of IWRM-net is organising an event in Brussels (Malbec, Rue de la Loi) to share good practice amongst research managers involved in identifying and managing research in the environmental sector.
The aim is to produce a guide to the various methods used in identifying research needs but also to share experience in a wide range of programme management issues, learning from the work of the many era-nets investigating these issues.
Research Management Issues
There a number of areas that will be covered at the event such as:
• Recording current research efforts
• Gap analysis
• The use of databases and classification methods for research/knowledge.
• Timescales for the research or the type of research e.g applied or ‘blue-sky’.
• Participation of stakeholders
• structures and organisations
The EU designed and set up the era net scheme to increase Europe’s capability to invest and manage R&D. A fundamental part of the development is the sharing of knowledge and experience in research programme management between partners. The workshop is aimed at this objective to improve our abilities on programme management and also highlight any potential obstacles to collaboration for potential partners in the future.
The output will be guidance on “good practice” which will record the main obstacles and opportunities identified, but SNIFFER aims to create an informal atmosphere that is conducive to sharing knowledge and understanding between the delegates.
