Parliament debates draft SCCAP
The Scottish Parliament recently debated the draft Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme (SCCAP) which was out for consultation until the Autumn of last year.
Adaptation Scotland – which is delivered by Sniffer - was highlighted by Minister for Environment and Climate Change Paul Wheelhouse MSP as key in developing Scotland’s capacity to adapt to climate change. His comments were made during a recent debate in the Scottish Parliament on the draft SCCAP.
Parliamentarians from all parties agreed that adaptation must be pushed up the political agenda and that it needs to be tackled collaboratively across sectors. MSP’s mentioned specific sectors and locations that will face particular challenges due to climate change, including small businesses and coastal communities.
The issues raised in the SCCAP debate have all been part of how we plan our work going forward and we are pleased that adaptation is firmly on the Parliament's agenda.
