Sustainable Land Use and Water Management

SNIFFER has a long history of working in water management and land quality research, although at the moment this is focused mainly on the water environment. We are currently running three knowledge management work streams in this area:

Supporting implementation of the Water Framework Directive and partnerships with UKTAG;
Flood Risk Management and the FRM service on behalf of Scottish Government and stakeholders;
Partner in EU network IWRM-net identifying short term research needs in integrated water resource management across Europe.

Our aspirations are to widen this topic area and our partnerships and we are investigating opportunities to support knowledge management in the areas of soil, biodiversity and on cross cutting issues such as climate change and WFD interactions. We welcome inquiries from potential partners interested in commissioning our services or in working with us on existing work areas.

As part of SNIFFER's new website update the Research Information Service for Flood Risk Management (RISE) site is now being hosted from a new, dedicated portal www.rise-frm.org.uk
