FRM 2021 Flood risk management and green recovery – call for contributions 1^st-5^th February 2021

We are busily organising the programme for this year’s virtual FRM Conference and are looking for contributions from the community. The theme for FRM 2021 is Flood Risk Management and Green Recovery.

We are planning a conference programme over 5 days - featuring 2-3 hours of content per day. Each day will be dedicated to a different theme and will feature a mix of presentations, Q&A sessions, panel discussions and workshops.

Tuesday February 2^nd 2021 – What’s new: science and policy updates

Wednesday February 3^rd 2021 – Land, place-making and planning

Thursday February 4^th 2021 – Inclusive resilience: strengthening communities and reducing inequity

Friday February 5^th 2021 – Communication and engagement

 

We would like to hear from you if:

• you have some research, a project or some other learning that you would like to share with the Scottish FRM community,
• if it fits into the themes above and you are available between 1^st-5^th February 2021, or
• if you would like to recommend a good speaker.

Material should be of interest to the flood risk management community or designed to further understanding of flooding issues to the wider public and other professions with whom we need to collaborate to increase Scotland’s resilience. We are keen for this to be an inclusive event that fosters the multidisciplinary solutions we need to address the changing flood risk that Scotland is facing; so we want to get a good mixture of sessions aimed at a broad community and pitched at various different levels from detailed technical analyses to introductory sessions for those newer to FRM matters. 

It will come as no surprise that the event will be virtual this year. Because of this it’s really important that speakers are comfortable speaking online so we would like potential contributors to send us a short video (approximately 2 minutes) telling us about your idea / project / research.

Speakers should be aware that presentation sessions are likely to be pre-recorded in advance to minimise connectivity issues, with a live Q&A session. Recordings of presentations, workshops and Q&A sessions will be available online after the event.
