Scotland’s Flood Risk Management Conference 2020

We’re delighted to announce that the date of the next FRM conference has been confirmed as 30 and 31 January 2020. Please hold those in your calendars and watch out for the registration open call in October.

Building on the success of the 2019 conference where we looked at the achievements of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act, the 2020 conference will focus on sharing experience and lessons learned in relation to implementing FRM. There will be a particular focus on flood protection schemes and works, and themes to include:

  • impacts of a changing climate
  • community engagement
  • natural flood management
  • land use planning
  • property resilience
  • an open session

We would like to invite your views on these themes. Are there any gaps? Are there any specific technical areas you would like us to focus on?

We would like to invite Expressions of Interest for presentations on the above themes. We particularly welcome joint presentations that demonstrate a partnership approach to implementing flood schemes and works that provide greater detail of the benefits, as well as the challenges, of working together. The oral presentations should be no more than 15 minutes long and expressions of interest should be submitted via an online form by the 31 August.

Sniffer will confirm which presentations have been accepted by end September 2019.
