Flood Resilience Conference 2024 - book your place now!

Sniffer is delighted to announce that the 2024 Sniffer Flooding Conference will be returning to the capital. The conference will be held at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on 08-09 February 2024 and will be a hybrid event.

The conference theme for 2024 is Scotland’s Flood Resilient Future. During 2023 Scottish Government has been working with partners to create a Flood Resilience Strategy that enhances the Flood Risk Management Planning process by clearly setting out Scotland’s long-term ambitions for increasing flood resilience. The Strategy is still being developed and many of you will have been involved in the engagement and co-creation process over the last six months. It is anticipated that a draft of this strategy will be available for public consultation in spring 2024 and the conference will be an ideal opportunity to raise our collective ambition and plan together for the future.

Emerging themes suggest that practitioners and communities want the Strategy to:

  • focus on how we can make our places more resilient to flooding in the context of the climate crisis;
  • move away from an approach centred on a relatively small number of large civil-engineered flood ‘schemes’ and toward mainstreaming adaptation, nature based solutions and resilience into building design, placemaking and land management;
  • put communities and delivery of cobenefits at the heart of that process; and
  • set out the principles by which flood resilience will be delivered over the coming decades.

If you would like to attend the conference as a delegate:

Tickets are now live and will be available until 26 January 2024. The event regularly sells out, so please book your place early and organisations are requested to limit the number of places they book to 4 delegates (not including presenters), to allow as diverse an audience as possible to attend. To book your spot please visit the Eventbrite page for this year's conference.

If you would like to present to the conference:

The conference showcases innovation and best practice so if you have a project which can help to deliver a flood resilient future for Scotland we would love to hear from you.

Please register your interest in presenting at the conference by completing the online form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FloodResilienceScotland2024 If you have any queries please contact  Sniffer The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 24 November 2023.

Delegate tickets for the conference will be available from October 2023. Speakers are entitled to a free conference ticket and complimentary attendance at the conference dinner.

The pricing for marketplace stalls at the conference is:

·        £500+ VAT for private and business sector organisations

·        £250+VAT public sector

·        £100+VAT for charities

If you would like to showcase your organisation and its services or a project in the conference marketplace / exhibition area, please register your interest using the online form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Marketplace by Friday 24 November 2023.
